I’m OK, but my Watch is Sick

I have been looking forward to the launch of Cathy B Jewelry’s website direct shopping catalog, where customers who love her trendy jewelry and unique global finds can purchase pieces using PayPal. Gift-Giving Tips for the Man in your Life

So many special occasions come and go each year–birthday, anniversary, Christmas, Valentine’s Day,  and a few far and in between.  If gift giving is on the agenda, it could either be a very exciting time, or a very stressful time.  Buying jewelry for men is not an easy task and most don’t even like wearing jewelry at all.  So I guess that has to be the first thing to ponder.  Whether you are shopping for dad, brother, husband, boyfriend, son or any other male out there, you have to think “what would he really want and use?”

For two occasions, one birthday and one Valentine’s Day, I purchased these two watches for my boyfriend.  The Swiss Army watch was given to him because he would always say “I need a new watch” all the time.  I knew this would fit his style and was very durable for the adventures he likes to go on.  It ended up being the best purchase I’ve ever made for someone and he never takes it off.

The other watch that I bought for my boyfriend is this watch from Fossil.  We went to a few weddings one summer, and his Swiss Army watch was just not flowing well with the dress shirt and tie.  I made a mental note to buy him a dressier watch for these kinds of occasions, so I did.  He really liked this one as well.

I think every guy could use a new watch.  It is probably the only piece of jewelry you could buy for a man and not feel too unsure if he will like it or not.  Watches even come in a wide range of price points–Swiss Army and Fossil are great brands for budgets ranging from $80-250.  Then you could even get into the thousands and ten thousands with some watches.  Ones like Rolex, Tag Heuer, Cartier, Girard-Perregaux, Breitling, Raymond Weil…among others.

Which watch?

Watches are the only piece of jewelry that I don’t really understand.  I recently learned what the word chronograph means.  You could line up a bunch of watches, and I would not be able to rank them by price.  I’ve seen a watch that is worth thousands, and thought it looked similar to one I saw at JCPenney.  Now, on the other hand, if you put a bunch of diamond rings on a table, I could definitely rank them by price.  I just realized maybe that is why I wear a fake Gucci watch. 

Without further ado, I give you three watches, all reasonably priced and would look great with a 4 ct diamond ring!

This watch is from Toy Watch, a company who prides themselves on outfitting celebrities with many of their designs. They’ve been seen on Naomi Campbell, Paris Hilton, Jessica Alba, and Joel McHale (yes, the hilarious guy from The Soup), to name a few. Trendy and inexpensive are two words that describe this watch from Urban Outfitters. It has a woven leather band and is only $38. I like how the numbers are roman numerals. The yellow gold face would go great with some yellow gold bracelets.

Also from Urban Outfitters and $38 is this two-tone, oversized watch. They call it the “Boyfriend’s” watch, because, well it could probably fit a man. The oversized watch trend is fun because you could either shop in the men’s dept. for one, or go into your dad’s or boyfriend’s jewelry box. At a price like this, you could buy one for yourself and that special man in your life!
