Do you have a favorite movie which stars Charlize Theron? Not really sure what mine is, but I do have a few favorite jewelry looks of hers. I’ve noticed she wears the best earrings. Check them out below, along with similar earrings so you can get her red carpet looks.

This look is elegant and formal–the earrings are dripping in diamonds that are very Art Deco in a drop style. These are very similar, done in platinum from the 1920s with 76 diamonds total. From John Salibello Jewelry, featured at 1stdibs and priced at $6800.

Here Charlize Theron is dressed down with some fun gold stud earrings. These are 14k yellow gold by Lena Wald, found at Aloha Rag. They come in three different sizes, the medium is priced at $175 for one.

Black onyx drop earrings are always so chic. The similar pair is from Beladora and are done in 18k white gold with diamonds and onyx. These are characterized with so much detail and are priced at $995.

Charlize Theron looks great with this style of earrings–it consists of a large cushion cut gemstone with surrounded by diamonds. I like the chunkiness of the look, with our choice being more radiant with a dark plum garnet. These earrings are 18k yellow gold designed by Dov Padeh and can be found at Delamina, price: $2200

Nothing is prettier than having your hair pulled back, showing off a pair of large, button earrings. And in this case, size does matter, because the perfect look is having them about the same size as your ear lobe. A nice round pair, featuring pearls, coral, or enamel are great choices. Actress of the 1960s Tippi Hedren is seen above portraying this look exactly.

These earrings are 18k yellow gold and embellished in enamel, with center diamonds. They are from Beladora, and are contemporary–black, white and gold is a classic color combination. Price: $995

Mabe pearls are perfect for the round, button earring look. These are done in 14k yellow gold, at a great price of $295 at Beladora2. The color of these are described as a bronzy grey and are circa 1980.

Designed by Van Cleef & Arpels, these button earrings are done in a rare natural coral, which is such a pretty color. This pair was purchased by Beladora from a prominent California estate, and is now for sale for $4250. Circa 1980, a necessary designer collector’s piece for any jewelry collection.

These are designed by Tiffany & Co. and feature stunning Mabe pearls in 18k yellow gold. They are contemporary, can be purchased on 1stdibs–provided by seller Hollis Reh and Shariff.

Untitled
The glow of the sun
peeks
and dabbles upon your
Tall
Thick
stems.
The bush birds
peek
their heads through
your boat-like
blossoms.
South African winds
convulse your confident
stalks and as they
whip around,
birdwatchers search frantically
for their binoculars.
As the sun climbs
you patiently wait for
a winged friend
to unknowingly
continue your reign
of beauty.
The coolness of nightfall
hovers over the Cape.
A photographer captures
the portrait of dependence–
You
And your birds.
Two species,
One name:
Birds of Paradise.

The Emerald Cut has always been a favorite of mine, especially when it comes to earrings. It compliments the face and adds that extra pop of style. Anyone and everyone has a pair of round diamond studs, but a pair of Emerald cut diamond studs? That is another story!
Check out some of the amazing vintage finds featuring Emerald Cut earrings. Since this style was popular during the Retro Era, most are from that time period.

This pair features large emerald cut aquamarines, totaling over 10 carats! The added diamonds on top give the illusion, to me at least, that there is a tiny bow on top. These are from the 80s although they look very retro. Priced at $1450 from Beladora.

Citrine is a classic retro gem. This pair of earrings even has the 18k rose gold, which was popular during the 30s. From Lang Antiques and priced at $495, with over 10 carats of citrine–so pretty!

Another pair of aquamarine earrings, but this time a lot smaller. These come from Doyle & Doyle and are priced at $450. The gold scrollwork is beautiful and it gives away what time period they are from.

Earrings can really make a difference in an outfit or a look. There are so many styles to choose from: hoop, dangle, stud, chandelier… you can go bold or dainty, gemstone or gold. More overwhelming than you thought?
Well, one trend that has a unique look is a bold flower, which nearly covers your entire earlobe. This actually catches your eye and draws your attention to the face. It looks great with your hair up or down, and really balances your entire look. Less jewelry worn in other places is usually a good idea when wearing earrings this bold. Don’t have your ears pierced or don’t like earrings? I have a great option for you too! Check out below.

Vintage Tiffany & Co. from 1960, with ten rubies totaling .33 carats and two diamonds, total. These can be purchased from the Ross-Simons Estate Collection for $1276.

If you want to do the flower trend without going so bold, these earrings are for you. From Israel Rose, these are made of rubies and 18k yellow gold. Price: $750

Poppies are what inspired these earrings–add some pearls and 18k yellow gold, and you got yourself some great earrings. Ross-Simons let’s you choose whether you want clip or post style earrings, at a price of $355. The color and style would be easy to dress up or down.

From 1950s, these lovely earrings feature rubies and 18k yellow gold. They measure 1.25 inches all around, so they are a perfect size for this trend. These are from Israel Rose, a jewelry company who calls the heart of NYC’s diamond district its home. Price: $1900

And for those who do not have pierced ears or like earrings? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Show some flower power with this amazing necklace designed by Elisa Solomon. The daisy is front and center, all in 18k yellow gold and diamonds for $909. Making the necklace even more special is the ancient beads that are used. How could you have a bad day wearing this?!

These beautiful pieces of jewelry featuring jade will never leave you feeling jaded. The combination of white gold or platinum with jade, whether it is a cabochon or carved, is just so pretty to me. Owning a piece of jade jewelry is necessary for any jewelry enthusiast. Check out the lovely vintage picks below!

American made, vintage from the 1920s–these beautiful carved jade earrings are set in platinum and diamonds. Bring the roaring twenties back when wearing these, fitted with original screwbacks that were popular then. From Lawrence Jeffrey Estate Jewelers and priced at $3800.

From the Edwardian Period come these platinum, diamond and jade earrings. I love the bow motif that was always seen during this time period, and having it paired with the jade is even more interesting. Priced at $9000 from Meriwether.

These vintage jade earrings have the carved jade style that I love. I like the subtle etching with the tiny holes, gives it a great, almost delicate look. I’ve never seen jewelry done in platinum over 18k yellow gold, but here is the first example! Priced at $2450 from Lang Antique & Estate Jewelry.

Earrings are always alittle more difficult to find when shopping vintage. Some have very strange looking screw-on backs that look like you need a screwdriver to open them up–yikes. Earrings, to me, are always the easiest piece of jewelry to lose. Whether an earring back falls off, and you lose one earring or the snap-bar closure doesn’t “snap” tightly enough. I’ve experienced it all…and I’m sure you have. Lately I’ve been having the problem of falling asleep with my earrings on, and in the middle of the night, unconsciously, I’ll take them out and fling them somewhere. Not good. Anyways, here are a few estate earrings that I found while browsing. Enjoy!

So cute and dainty, these diamond dangles are true reflections of the Edwardian time period. They are from Ross-Simons estate collection, and are priced at $6800. There are 2 carats of diamonds and set in 14k yellow gold.

These are also from Ross-Simons estate collection. They are from the 1930s and are so stunning, whether you would wear them day or night. The green stone is a jade cabochon, which is surrounded by black onyx rectangles–very unique. Of course there are loads of diamonds and the earrings are set in platinum. Price: $6200.

Lastly, these chic, turquoise enamel earrings are from Adin fine antique jewelry, located in Belgium. These would go great with many of the trends right now. They are 18k yellow gold and are priced at about $124. I wish I would’ve rocked these in my new driver’s license photo I had to take this morning…of course after waiting hours in line.

Earrings can either make or break an outfit. There are trends that come and go, but there are a few classics that will always remain. No matter what date, time period, or season, diamond studs will always remain timeless and classy. You could find an old black & white photograph from the 40s, or a picture just uploaded onto Facebook, where girls are wearing diamond studs.

Diamond studs can come in many different shapes and sizes, and each element affects the price tag. Think of purchasing them as an investment. Some jewelry stores offer a “trade-up” policy where you can continually upgrade your diamond studs and only need to pay the difference in price. That is a great idea. If I were to finally hoard some money and go for the buy, I would purchase something similar to above. They are a nice, clean emerald-cut pair.

Another essential to any girls’ earring assortment would be a good pair of gold hoops. The size is up to you. These ones are neat because they are wider than most when looking straight-on. The gold design is another positive–and so is the price! Only $285 from Ross-Simons.

A pair of dangle earrings is another essential. My choice is by designer Jamie Joseph featured on Eliza Page. The navy blue of the lapis will match with just about anything from jeans to an evening dress. These are done in 14k white gold and are priced at $220. Please allow 4-6 weeks for ordering…so these are not a good idea for that wedding next weekend!

The last earring essential is classic, affordable and absolutely necessary: pearl studs (and I don’t have any [sad face]) I like the bigger pearls…around 9-10mm. They can dress up anything–even jeans and a t-shirt. These are from Ben Bridge Jewelers in sunny San Diego, California. Price: $139.
